News and Notes

3/5/10-
Pete and I just got done doing yet another round of tee pad cleaning before the Spring Rip It hits the course this weekend!  Hopefully that blasted rain will hold off for the groups.  Anyone who is playing in these winter months please help us keep our tee boxes clean and pitch in where ever you can!  Happy tossing!

1/02/10-  2010 is here and it feels pretty weird typing that in here.  We here at Lakewood Hills Disc Golf hope that you and your friends and families had a safe and fun holidays.  Hopefully you got the new Innova Katana or Discraft Nuke, two discs that I was not fortunate enough to get my hands on before they were all sold out!  Anyway, 2009 was a big year for Lakewood Hills.  It may seem on the outside that we just cleaned up the course, but on the inside we created a valuable connection with the city.
The city has asked us to come up with a plan on paper of how we want to map out new holes and how we are going to make it happen.  We will be meeting with one of the board members to show this plan and hopefully get it to the council for voting and hopefully passing by Spring.  We will be listing estimates on costs, manpower, laying out designs, and listing how we plan to get this all done.  Please remember that this is just planning and nothing is for certain yet.  However, at some point down the road Lakewood Hills Disc Golf (the club and the course) will need you to step up and show your support whetther in emails or letters to the city asking for expansion of the course (in a polite and respectful way, I might add) or by coming to the meeting whenever it is we need a show of support.   Our image as "Disc Golfers" goes far beyond what you imagine in the city's eyes.  You players that participate in the league are always setting great examples and we thank you for that.  Since we've started this league we have cleaned up a course that was once known as one of the most trashed courses in the area.  Also, we are making strides towards improvements and expansion and we will get there as long as we all stay diligient in our efforts to keep this course a great place to play our favorite sport.
Thank you all for all you have done for the course and us.  We wouldn't be here without you guys and we can't wait to see you guys in the Spring.  Have a great new year and take new strides into disc golf this year whether it be in skill, volunteering, or just being an influence to others to play our sport!   Bang some chains!

11/01/09- Last week Pete Scholl was interviewed in the White Bear Press on the front of the sports section.  The article was a Q&A about disc golf here at Lakewood Hills.  It is currently on whitebearpress.com under the sports page.
